[00:00][Lauren] You’ll have your own activity sheets to fill in, so you can practice using a Cool Kids skill. Open your own activity sheets by using the buttons below the main window. All activity sheets are pdf documents.
[00:13][Sally] You can print blank copies of your activity sheets and fill them in by hand. Keep your activity sheets all together in a safe place.
Or, you can edit and save activity sheets on your computer or tablet.
[00:29][Lauren] Let’s talk about using the Cool Kids Activity Sheets on your computer first. Create a special folder on your computer to keep all your activity sheets together. Once you have opened an activity sheet, you can edit it using the latest version of Adobe Reader. You can download Adobe Reader for free online. Adobe allows you to type, tick or highlight the activity sheet.
[00:55][Sally] To type go to “view” on the main adobe toolbar, choose “fill & sign” and then “add text”. Then place your curser on the spot where you would like to type – and start typing! You can change the colour, type and size of font using the “add text” toolbar that pops up on your screen. To save your filled-in activity sheet, go to “file” and “save as”. You can then save your activity sheet to your special Cool Kids folder on your computer. You can also come back and add or delete your typing by selecting the typing you added to the activity sheet. Don’t forget to save these changes.
[01:43][Lauren] To add a tick to an activity sheet, go to “view” on the main adobe toolbar, choose “fill & sign” and then “add checkmark”. Then place your curser on the spot where you would like to add the tick. Don’t forget to save your filled-in activity sheet.
[02:05][Sally] To highlight parts of an activity sheet, go to “view” on the main adobe toolbar, choose “comment”, “annotations” then select “highlight text”. The “highlight text” icon is a picture of the letter T highlighted in yellow. Then you select the words you want to highlight using your curser. You can delete highlighting by selecting the text that is highlighted and press the delete key. Again, don’t forget to save your filled-in activity sheet.
[02:41][Lauren] Of course, you can also print activity sheets you have edited using Adobe. Go to file on the main Adobe toolbar and select ‘print’.
[02:52][Sally] Now’s let’s talk about using the Cool Kids Activity Sheets on your tablet. Before you can edit activity sheets on the Cool Kids website, you first need to install the latest “Adobe Reader” app on your device. Open an activity sheet on the site using the buttons below the main window. Then open the activity sheet within the ‘adobe app’ on your device.
For example, on an apple device you can “open with” adobe reader. For an android device you can “complete action using” adobe reader. Opening the activity sheet in the Adobe App will allow you to edit, save and even print the activity sheet.
[03:43][Lauren] The Adobe App allows you to draw pen markings (e.g., draw a tick), type into, or highlight the activity sheet. Visit the Adobe Reader website for more information on how to use the Adobe App.
Your filled-in activity sheet will be saved to the Adobe App. The edited sheets can also be exported to a remote file backup system like GoogleDrive or Dropbox if you have accounts and apps for these systems on your device.
